Welcome to Fishers

When Money Magazine named Fishers as the #1 Best Place to Live in the US in 2017, the city’s reputation as just a “bedroom community” to Indianapolis was finally put to rest. Its population of around 90,000 makes it the sixth largest city in Indiana, but Fishers still has a reputation as a safe, peaceful, and friendly place to live.

For families with school-age children, the Hamilton Southeast School District is regularly one of the highest rated in the state, including 13 Four Star Schools, and mane National Blue Ribbon Schools. Over 94% of high school graduates from the Fishers school system plan on continuing their education after graduation.

History comes alive when you experience pioneer life at beautiful Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institute. Events and seasonal activities throughout the year make Conner Prairie a draw from all over the state. The popular and classical music concerts at the park’s outdoor amphitheater have been a high point of the Central Indiana summer season for over 35 years.

Another site for live performance in Fishers is at the Nickel Plate District amphitheater, also the site of the farmer’s market, festivals, and outdoor movies. The district is also home to local government buildings, including City Hall, the public library, and other civic organizations.

For those who love the Great Outdoors, Fishers has Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve and 130+ miles of bike and walking paths to help get you moving. Boating is nearby at Geist Reservoir, with plans underway for a 70-acre waterfront park open to all. Or get a birds-eye view of nature from a hot air balloon through Midwest Balloon Rides.

You won’t need to travel to the big city for shopping – Fishers has Hamilton Town Center mall, a wide range of popular chain stores, and locally owned businesses to serve almost any need. And the new Ikea store located right off of I-69 at 116th street has made Fishers a shopping destination in its own right.

In nearby Noblesville you can stroll through the shops their charming downtown, or take in concerts by A-list performers at the Klipsch Music Center.

There are many more attractions right in Fishers and its backyard; visithamiltoncounty.com has plenty of ideas to fill your weekends to come. Or learn more about life in Fishers at the community website at Fishers.
